CONTACT LENSES

Contact lenses are an essential part of eye care and we offer a range of styles to make sure you can find the ones that are best for you.

WHAT HAPPENS IN CONTACT LENS ASSESSMENTS

If you are looking at getting contact lenses for the first time, you will need to attend an appointment to help work out which are best for you. At this appointment, your optician will ask you about your eye health in the past as well as run some tests to check your eyesight.

After this, the optician will assess the shape of your eye to make sure that you get the contact lenses that are best for you personally. This personalised service performed by experts means you can rest assured you will leave with the perfect contact lenses for your eye shape.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONTACT LENSES AVAILABLE

There are two types of contact lenses that you are most likely to come across and these are soft lenses and gas-permeable lenses.

Soft lenses are created from plastic containing water and are, as the name suggests, softer. They are more like a thick film that fits your eye and are slightly larger than the alternative.

Gas permeable contact lenses, also known as RGP (rigid gas permeable) are smaller and less often used but can be a better option for those who need to use contact lenses in the long term and can last up to twelve months before they should be changed. They are also a better option if you have irregularly shaped eyes.

AFTERCARE & ADVICE

Our experts are dedicated to providing the best service, so when you come in for an eye appointment, we will make sure to give you any information you will need when it comes to aftercare.

It is important that you follow this advice to make sure your lenses are working right for you. This usually includes checking how the lenses feel, taking any treatment you are given for dry or itchy eyes for example, paying attention to how your vision is with the new lenses and advice for any problems you may face once you have the new lenses.

If you feel any discomfort or have any concerns at all, make sure to book a check-up appointment so that we can offer any advice or find you a better fit.
